What Is IP to Country?
IP to country is a lookup that shows which country an internet address belongs to. Every IP is assigned to a block owned by an ISP or organization in a specific country. Geolocation databases map those blocks to countries (and often region and city) so that websites and apps can show the right language, enforce licensing, or flag suspicious locations.
Country-level results are usually very accurate. Region and city are estimates and can be off, especially for mobile or VPN traffic. If you need more than country — like ISP, timezone, or a map — use our full IP lookup or IP location finder. To see your own IP’s country, try What is my IP.
How to Use IP to Country

FAQs
How do I find the country of an IP address?
Enter the IP or domain in our tool. We use geolocation databases to show the country (and region/city) associated with that address. Country-level accuracy is very high.
Can IP to country be wrong?
Rarely for country. Region and city are estimates. VPNs, proxies, and mobile networks can show the provider’s country instead of the user’s.
Is IP to country lookup free?
Yes. Our tool is free with no signup. We don’t store your lookups.
Why do I need to know an IP’s country?
Common uses: content licensing, fraud checks, support routing, and compliance. Site owners often restrict or customize content by country.
Does it work for IPv6?
Yes. We support both IPv4 and IPv6. Enter either and you’ll see the country.
