What Is IP to City?
IP to city is a geolocation lookup that estimates the city (and usually region and country) for an internet address. Databases map IP ranges to locations using ISP and registry data. You don’t get a street address — you get an approximate city or metro area, which is enough for many apps and analyses.
City-level accuracy varies. In some regions it’s within a few miles; in others it’s looser. For full details — including a map, timezone, and ISP — use our IP lookup or IP location finder. To see your own IP’s city, use What is my IP.

FAQs
How accurate is IP to city?
City is an estimate, often within 25–50 miles. Country is much more accurate. Mobile and VPN traffic can show the provider’s city.
Can I get the exact city for any IP?
Not always. Many IPs only resolve to a region or country. Our tool shows the best estimate from geolocation databases.
Is IP to city free?
Yes. Our lookup is free with no signup. We don’t store your queries.
Why does my IP show the wrong city?
ISPs often assign IPs from a hub in another city. VPNs and proxies show the server’s city. Geolocation is based on network data, not your device.
Does it work for domains?
Yes. Enter a domain and we resolve it to an IP, then show the city (and country) for that IP.
